Aluminum Fence and Electric Driveway Gate in Winter Park
Winter Park has a particular look. Cobblestone brick side streets, mature oaks, and homes that ask for a fence line to match. This install pairs an aluminum perimeter with an electric driveway gate for one of those properties.
What did this Winter Park property need from a fence?
The lot sits on a wide corner off one of the older Winter Park streets, the kind where every neighbor has kept the landscaping neat for decades. The owner wanted the driveway secured with a real gate, not a hand latch. They also wanted the front line of the property closed off in a way that matched the formal feel of the neighborhood. Chain link was off the table for obvious reasons. Wood would have needed refinishing every couple of years. Aluminum with a black powder coat finish and a matching electric driveway gate was the clean fit. We walked the whole footprint before writing the estimate, checked the setbacks from the sidewalk, and confirmed the driveway approach was wide enough to swing the gate leaves without clipping the columns. Winter Park is close enough to Rollins College and Park Avenue that curb appeal is not optional. Our design had to sit right on this block from day one.
How did we integrate the electric driveway gate with the perimeter run?
The trick with a driveway gate is that it is not a fence, it is a moving mechanical assembly that has to line up with the fence on either side. We set the two gate posts first, at 3 feet deep in concrete each, oversized for the load of a full aluminum gate leaf. Only after those two posts had cured did we bring in the rest of the perimeter run. That sequencing keeps the gate opening square. The electric operator is a hydraulic swing arm mounted at the base of each post, wired back to a control box with remote and keypad entry, and rated to handle daily cycles for years. Every aluminum panel on the perimeter side is welded from the factory with a lifetime manufacturer warranty on the powder coat. Our workmanship is warranted for one year against install issues, which for an electric gate matters because the alignment is what determines whether the operator strains or cycles clean.
What does the completed fence and gate look like from the street?
The five project photos show the corner post, the gate open from the driveway view, the left driveway approach, the right driveway approach, and the sidewalk view. From the sidewalk the perimeter reads as one continuous run with the gate breaking the line only where the driveway approaches. The corner post carries the same lifetime powder coat finish as the rest of the fence, so ten years down the line the whole assembly will still match. The remote and keypad give the owner and family members a way in and out without leaving the car.
